"EMERGENCY DISPLACEMENT FUND"
H.A.W.T Muse has started an “Emergency Displacement Fund” for young adults aging out of foster care, or with histories of involvement with foster care, and are at risk of homelessness. It is estimated that between approximately 20,000-25,000 youth age out of foster care every year. Of those, approximately 25 percent experience homelessness within four years of aging out, and an even higher percentage will experience some form of precarious housing." -- HUD Tenant Protection Vouchers for Foster Youth to Independence Initiative
Our Emergency Displacement Fund (EDF) aims to help 5-10 students per semester who are currently enrolled in an accredited higher education institution in NYC and Westchester Counties who are on the verge of becoming homeless. We are seeking funds to help the most urgent cases find homes, assistance with tuition, rent and other major bills. Their focus should be their coursework. It shouldn't be the fear of not having a place to lay their head, or the possibility of not walking across that stage come graduation time. Let's help them succeed.
Your generous tax-deductible donation (no matter how small) goes towards the stabilization of these young women by helping to pay their out of pocket tuition fee, security deposit, rent, and basic utilities (gas, water, and electricity). Every dollar you donate to this fund will go directly to each student. Your good deed will stabilize these youth for at least 1 semester. We appreciate you and your generosity during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you.
-H.A.W.T
As a thank you for your generosity you will receive a personalized thank you from our student. Please provide your address while submitting your donation.
*Some of those we help suffer from domestic abuse and/or violence. We never use an individual's real name in order to protect their identity.
