"EMERGENCY DISPLACEMENT FUND"
H.A.W.T Muse has started an “Emergency Displacement Fund” for young adults aging out of foster care, or with histories of involvement with foster care, and are at risk of homelessness. It is estimated that between approximately 20,000-25,000 youth age out of foster care every year. Of those, approximately 25 percent experience homelessness within four years of aging out, and an even higher percentage will experience some form of precarious housing." -- HUD Tenant Protection Vouchers for Foster Youth to Independence Initiative
Our Emergency Displacement Fund (EDF) aims to help 5-10 students per semester who are currently enrolled in an accredited higher education institution in NYC and Westchester Counties who are on the verge of becoming homeless. We are seeking funds to help the most urgent cases find homes, assistance with tuition, rent and other major bills. Their focus should be their coursework. It shouldn't be the fear of not having a place to lay their head, or the possibility of not walking across that stage come graduation time. Let's help them succeed.
Your generous tax-deductible donation (no matter how small) goes towards the stabilization of these young women by helping to pay their out of pocket tuition fee, security deposit, rent, and basic utilities (gas, water, and electricity). Every dollar you donate to this fund will go directly to each student. Your good deed will stabilize these youth for at least 1 semester. We appreciate you and your generosity during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you.
As a thank you for your generosity you will receive a personalized thank you from our student. Please provide your address while submitting your donation.
*Some of those we help suffer from domestic abuse and/or violence. We never use an individual's real name in order to protect their identity.
"If it wasn’t for H.A.W.T Muse and it's "Emergency Displacement Fund" and their assistance through this difficult time, who knows what these next couple weeks would have looked like" -S.V.
NOTE: If you or someone you know are in foster care, a displaced college student in foster care (or not) and are in need of financial assistance please fill out the "Displacement Survey" via the following link.

Meals on Wheels
In February and March we worked with a wonderful program via Volunteer NY. Meals on Wheels has been around since 1974.
They do an amazing job in minimizing hunger within and around Rockland and Westchester counties. To learn more please visit their website by clicking here.
This year because of an amazing organization (Volunteer New York), we were capable of participating in our local annual Thanksigiving-in-a-box food drive for the needy.
If you want to join our team next year, feel free to Contact Us. Next year we're looking to donate more boxes to this wonderful cause.
