Yoga Savvy & H.A.W.T Muse initiates change by fostering relationships based on personal growth, while using the method of Assess, Teach, and Create.
H.A.W.T Muse is focused on the spiritual well-being of the youth. We are here to assist in all aspects of life, however, it begins within oneself—with self awareness, self love, mental and physical health. Through the Yoga and Wellness program, the organization strives to create a community of well rounded foster care youth and young adults, whom are able to thrive beyond the system.

About Yoga Savvy
Sav began her yoga practice in the hot room in 2015. Although she had grown up in the world of sports, there was something different about the stillness that yoga provided—creating an inner journey that wasn’t focused on competition or appearance. Over time her practice shifted toward Vinyasa Yoga, with a love for the creative element in sequencing, and focus on how we can heal ourselves from within. After moving to New York City in 2018, she finally had the opportunity to pursue a Vinyasa Yoga teacher training certified through Yoga Alliance. Sav teaches how YOGA is a means to become SAVVY with the Self, and encourages students to harness what is already inside of them—uniting the subtle and physical bodies.
Unit 1: Assess
The first unit begins by assessing the why. Why is it important to focus on one’s health? Why is wellness something that benefits a person inside and outside of themselves? Why is there a need for Yoga in our lives? And why might yoga be something that can truly change who and how we are? Without a why there is nothing, which sets the heart of this unit around defining the needs of the students.
With an introduction to the origins of Yoga and yogic philosophy, we will discuss the roles of discipline, self reflection, commitment, and diligence. Health begins with you, and it follows you everywhere. It effects and infects everyone and everything around you. By understanding the Unity of all things, we begin our Yoga practice.
Unit 2: Teach
The second unit builds on the questions of why, which are unique to every individual. Throughout this unit Yoga Savvy will be working closely with students to teach them techniques for overall reduction of stress and anxiety, increased concentration, and sleep aids.
Yoga is comprised of 8 Limbs. These 8 branches of study include: yamas (oneself in the world), niyamas (self-reflection), asana (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), pratyahara (withdrawl of the senses), dharana (concentration), dhyana (meditation), and samadhi (connection to the Divine or Unity). Learning about all 8 Limbs of Yoga, each individual will walk away with a deeper understanding of their why. Students will also begin learning the basic sequence of Vinyasa Yoga combined with pressure techniques from Chinese medicine.
Unit 3: Create
In this final unit, the students will develop a personal practice that they feel confident maintaining on their own. This way they can maintain a consistent practice (hopefully daily) and do not feel self conscious about it. They will understand the overall importance of health, and how it begins with oneself. Without a healthy self, health can’t establish at all.
This focus on body-mind-soul connection results in understanding how everything around us and within us creates a chain reaction. As each student within the program creates their own practice, Yoga Savvy will be there to guide them so that they may walk away with their own well-rounded, complete practice.
